Found videos from 1992

Two videos have emerged from the second year of NZ On Air funding, and they’re both set at a train station (but not the same one).

June 1992

David Parker “In Summer I Fall”

The sweet, slightly nerdy guy calls in the cool kids to spice up the video for his sunny reggae tune, set at a train station. As well as guest vocalist Teremoana Rapley, the video also features Rhythm Slave, while future Green MP Nandor Tanczos stars as the stationmaster. There’s an attempt at a plot, but the video is at its most interesting when it’s a bunch of friends hanging out in the station pool hall.

Shona Laing “Thief To Silver”

It’s crazy to think that this video is now 23 years old, but this wobbly VHS copy does feel like a relic of the era.  The video takes inspiration from the song lyrics and sets it at a train station, but there are also scenes that get a bit caught up in dramatic music video imagery, complete with some old style big 20c pieces standing in for silver coins. The video is at its strongest when it just focuses on Shona performing the song.
